about the scholarship

The 1LT Austin Shilling Memorial ROTC Scholarship was created by Austin’s family as a way to support future leaders of the US Army while also honoring his memory. The scholarship is offered at Austin’s alma mater, Appalachian State University, and covers tuition for one deserving Army ROTC student each year.

Our hope is to reduce some of the stress and debt that these students may incur while earning their degrees. We felt called to give back to a university, program and group of young leaders that gave so much to Austin. Go ‘neers!
